Golden State killer: Discarded tissue led to DNA breakthrough
DNA from a tissue left in a trash can led police to detain a former California police officer suspected of being the Golden State Killer, according to loopholes released yesterday.
The files detail the case clubbed together by Sacramento County sheriff's investigators to detain 72-year-old Joseph DeAngelo.
He's suspected of committing at least a dozen killings and about 50 rapes from the 1970s and 80s, which makes him one of California's most elusive serial killers.

Nowadays you hear all sorts of objections to delegating, obstacles, explanations for why people don't delegate. I suppose the actual reason, probably, deep down is just fear that it will go wrong. But as we have already seen, that's an unfounded objection since if you're monitoring and ready to intervene and support it cannot go wrong. But fear that it might go wrong is a common fear. Maybe fear that the people who work for you will become greater than you. But obviously, that is ridiculous. We want them to become better. So, don't have that as a panic. They may be much better than me, they might do it better than me. I might seem bad. If you have got people doing a fantastic job for you, you may look good as well as their leader. What about the explanation, I'm too busy to describe it. Now really that may be accurate if you are in desperate hurry. However, if you're able to somehow find the time to explain it to the individual that's going to pay off many times over in the future when they get it done for another time and the time afterwards. So, haven't got time to educate them or haven't got time.

It's the human condition, we make excuses. We all get derailed occasionally, but the very successful people can spot their excuses early and get back on the right track. If an objection or a problem arises, it is important to always inquire, is it a reason, an obstacle you can track and overcome in the future? Or a justification, a story that you are telling yourself? Let us talk about how to determine the difference. You can literally stop this and do it today if you'd like. Write down all the reasons you're having difficulties or suspect you may have difficulties. You might have things like, I don't have sufficient budget, I have never done this before and don't know how to do it, I am not certain if my work isn't good enough. Whatever it is, write it all down.
